There are currently two Children's Homes in operation.
Shangilia Children's Home
near Kisumu and Tumaini Children's Home near Eldoret.

Shangilia Children's Home
Shangilia means Rejoice in Swahili
Shangilia Children's Home is located in a small village outside of Kisumu called Vihiga in Kenya Africa.  It currently cares for 40 children from ages 1-19.  The goal is to upgrade Shangilia to house 100 children and progress is being made to this end.  These children have come to Shangilia for many reasons such as being born out of wedlock and not accepted, or having one or both parents dying of AIDS.   This home not only houses these children, but goes beyond to care for, feed, educate and teach the Love of God.  Two brothers began this.... Dream For Kenya.

Pastor Francis Ronogwa's
passion for children of Kenya began in 1998 when AIDS began its widespread devastation.  Francis lost 15 cousins and their spouses in a very short time and was heartbroken that their children has no where to turn.
He and his wife Florence felt called to take immediate action.  Francis spoke with his brother Kefa who felt the same calling.  Together they began what is now Shangilia.  They have each sacrificed their own families, lives and inheritance to see this dream become reality.  Francis exudes God's light and lives by sacrificial example of Christ.

Pastor Kefa Kadenge is the older brother of Francis and has also lived a life of service to the Lord.  He attended Rod Parsley's Bible College from 1999-2002 and has used his skills to run several churches across various locations in Kenya.  He and his wife Lonika train their people in God's Word and have come alongside Francis to love and care for the Kenyan orphans.  Kefa is called to "train the children to grow into God fearing adults, who are mindful of others and responsible in their action". He is a prayer warrior and has a heart of gold.

Hey!
Receive much greetings in our Lord Jesus.  I hope and believe that you are Okay.  How are you in Colorado?  My name is Zilpah and I am in grade eight.  My favorite subject is English and Math.  What are your favorite subjects and games? My favorite game is volleyball and soccer because they are the ones I do best.  Pass my regard to your family members and your friends.  Tell them I love them and I miss them a lot.  I am 14 years old and I have two sisters and no brother.  I lived with my parents but they passed away.  I thank God because I have now been kept alive.  Pastor Francis took me and my sister to an orphanage called Shangilia.  Here is where we live.  My request is that you pray for me so that in every situation I pass I may stand firm and focus on God.  I love you and I miss you a lot.
Your sincerely friend,
Zilpah Elamwenya

Shangilia Children’s Home (Orphanage) in Vihiga, Kenya
Started and Operated by
Pastor Francis Ranogwa and his brother Pastor Kefa Kadenge

The Shangilia Children’s home was started 5 years ago in Eldoret and relocated to Vihiga almost 2 years ago.  It is currently on Francis and Kefa’s land that was inherited from their parents.

The orphanage has around 43 children who walk 10 minutes to the public school where the ratio of teachers is 1 for every 100 students.  The resources at the public schools are almost non existent.

The orphanage has to provide each student their own uniform, chair, notebook, pencils and supplies for school.  The government of Kenya doesn’t do well in provisions, books, materials and supplies for the schools.  The Kenya government doesn’t teach English well or put the proper emphasis on it.

Therefore, we would love for your organization to consider books for a small library at the orphanage so the students can be learning and discovering outside of their classrooms.  This would really inspire the orphans and give them hope to someday change their situation and move out from poverty.

Pastor Kefa and his wife Lonika run the orphanage.  They are very fluent in speaking and reading English.  It is their dream that if they had English books at the orphanage they could help the children read, write and improve their English to ensure they could compete in the global society.

Tumaini Children's Home
Tumaini means Hope in Swahili

Tumaini Children's Home is located near the city of Eldoret in Kenya Africa.  Tumaini is operated by Joyce with close supervision by Kefa.  It currently cares for 9 children from ages 1-7.  These children have come to Tumaini for many reasons such as being born out of wedlock and not accepted, or having one or both parents dying of AIDS.  This home not only houses these children, but goes beyond to care for, feed, educate and teach the Love of God.
