Seda (Push Me Up) Program

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." … Jeremiah 29:11

Widows

Giving needs for holistic program to sensitively walk alongside and lift up widows:

  • Small business grants
  • Medical care
  • Food

After months of meeting in their group, building trust, and receiving food during the crisis, several widows approached Pastors Francis and Kefa, saying they no longer wanted food, but would like instead, money J!  A bit perplexed but without questioning their intent, the widows were given a small amount of funds.  At next meeting the women came in beaming … each invested in businesses and reported it was going well.  These widows are believing in their ability and gaining respect within the community that is transforming their future.

Community Economic Development

Giving needs for sustainable livelihoods:

  • Business and financial training
  • Step 1 and 2 push me up loans
  • Partnering in small enterprises

The local church community is supporting one another through self-help groups, partnering with local Christian Microfinance trainers to learn business planning/budgeting, and developing a two-step Push-Me-Up Loan program funded with our assistance. These $80 loans (first 20 awarded soon) will enable the poorest to improve their livelihoods and build a track record to enter the local MFI system.  Two recent enterprise opportunities will help the entire community: a chicken hatchery to lower costs for new chicks and animal feeds mill to provide affordable feeds for cows, poultry, and goats. Funding for machinery and expertise is needed.
